manual transfer pump

Would someone recommend me a good quality manual transfer pump? Something that can be used to transfer liquids from one tank to another, say such as gasoline from a barrel into a car.

Easy to operate, efficient design. Cost is not a big issue.

Food quality? If not, Horrible Freight has a barrel pump that should suit.

Here is a good Farm Equipment site www.gemplers.com

Gotta be careful with gasoline. Watch any metallic parts. I only have a good siphon for gas. They make gas specific pumps for 55 gallon barrels.

Don't do gas, have a diesel.

3/8 fuel hose, as much as you need, mine is 15 feet. squeeze bulb that is used for an outboard boat fuel tank. seven and a half feet hose each side of bulb. arrow on bulb shows fuel flow direction. dunk one end in barrel, the other in filler neck, squeeze twice, sit down and take a break. used this on a trip down the alcan late 80s with a 30 gallon plastic barrel. gave about 900 mile range with the station wagon i was driving, 4 cyl pontiac. saved my ass in jordan montana when i ran out. about 70 mile from anywhere. the bulb rig is non sparking. have heard it called okie credit card, mexican filling station, and a few other less than politically correct names.:tongue_ma:

Most any farm supply store will carry them. I have two.....a rotary and a "push-pull" handle type.....I like the push-pull one best. I later bought a 12v electric transfer pump as well.....it will empty a 55gal drum in about 4 minutes.
